EIBAMY
Bjarte Eike and Jon Balke remix Baroque and folk music, blending it with original compositions, improvisation, and sound architecture. Tone Myskja's beautiful and dynamic video art is projected live alongside the performing musicians.
EiBa originally began as a duo, a natural outcome of Jon Balke and Bjarte Eike’s close musical collaboration over the past 20 years. The two have been deeply involved in each other's signature projects, such as Balke's Siwan and Magnetic Northand Eike's Barokksolistene. EiBa explores expressions where music that is hundreds of years old is presented in forms and shades unmistakably influenced by Balke and Eike. As with all projects these two are involved in, the music is playful, spontaneous, relevant, and timeless.
Both Eike and Balke have always had a strong connection to visual art and often conceptualize their music in visual terms. The inclusion of Myskja, expanding the duo into the trio EiBaMy, was a natural progression. EiBaMy serves as a meeting point between modern electronic sound processing, Renaissance/Baroque music, and video projection. The project plays with perceptions of time, resonance, and space.
