MOVEMENTS

Tone Myskja - Movements is an artist's book with a rich presentation of my artistic practice. Since 1990 I have worked with video as a visual and sculptural element through exhibitions, concerts and stage performances. Ever since I took my education in theater design, sculpture and video at art academies in respectively Oslo, Antwerp and London, I have drawn inspiration and been interested in both the visual arts and stage related projects. My work is based on this interest and operates in the intersection between these artistic disciplines. I have a musical approach, and compose complex and complex videos and installations. The book is a rich presentation which, through text and photos, will make visible the range of my artistry. I want the book to primarily be a visual experience, which can inspire and give an insight into an artistic universe. The design of the book reflects my interest in music and rhythm, and I have chosen to tie it all together with a minimalistic black-and-white cover that gives associations to a musical score. The content , music, art and colors are on the inside.

Movements can be bought in the bookshop at Lillehammer Art Museum, Kunstnerforbundet and online at Kunstbokhandelen B*stard

I have chosen three different writers to write texts for the artist's book which, based on art theory, music theory and performing arts, shed light on my interdisciplinary artistic practice.

Hilde Fauskerud: VIA - A space to be who you are talks about my work based on the video-sound installation "VIA" at Lillehammer Art Museum.

Anne Danielsen's text, "Struktur i spill", is a musical theoretical response to the video work - The heart has two chambers.

Camilla Eeg-Tverbakk has a dramaturgical and performing arts background and has written the text Ephemeral Movements about my work. In the book I have included an extract from this text.
